The Panel Avilés of sports medicine examines the role of the activity and physical exercise in the disease and the challenge of artificial intelligence applied to the health of sportsmen
Responsible doctors of medicine centres of sport of the Autonomous Communities, high performance centres and canoe and representatives of local entities discuss the challenges of their professional activities

Madrid, 05 october 2023.The working group Avilés of sports medicine, composed of responsible doctors of the centres of sports medicine of the autonomous communities, high performance centres and canoe and representatives of local bodies, held its XII annual meeting to discuss matters that currently attract particular interest to sports medicine.
The meeting, on the organization has participated the subdirectorate General sports science of the supreme council for sports (CSD) in collaboration with the municipality of Miranda de Ebro, has addressed over two days of the role of the activity and physical exercise in diabetic patient, neurodegenerative disease and obesity. In Addition, the meeting included a presentation on physical exercise and cancer and a visit of all participants to the facilities of the Sports Oncology Rehabilitation foundation GYAFyS Cancer.
The opening act on this issue has met with the statement made by the assistant director-general sports science of the CSD, Aitor Canibe, and the mayor of Miranda de Ebro, Aitana Hernando. On the part of the above-mentioned Sub-Department of the CSD also participated in the presentations and in the organization of Ignacio Melendro, with a presentation on digitization of the centres of Sports medicine and Carmen Arnaudas, in the coordination of the group.
The director of the centre of sports medicine of Madrid, Fernando Gutiérrez has moderated the round tablePresent and future: new technologies, which has analysed the challenge of artificial intelligence applied to the area of health and sport. This area is present in the objectives of digitizing the centres of Sports medicine including on lines of financing of european funds that the government allocates to sport.
Working group Avilés
It is a working group composed of representatives of public sports medicine of Autonomous Communities, of high performance centres and Sports canoe and local entities, whose objectives are:
- To harmonise the technical and professional work of the centres of sports medicine that depend on public entities.
- The search for solutions to common problems. Share and improve the technical and scientific knowledge.
- Improving the training of professionals serving in these facilities.
- Disponer de un foro de intercambio de ideas, inquietudes e iniciativas en el ámbito profesional.
To that end, the group sets annual meetings of the scientific and technical content to exchange of experiences in the field of sports medicine and whose conclusions can serve the public officials to put in place the policies more efficient. In turn, serves as the channel of distribution of knowledge and of those responsible for the centres of Sports medicine of the public service of the country.
