The president of the CSD meets with the government delegate in the Canary Islands
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, October 31, 2025.- The President of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, has met with the Government delegate in the Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Government Subdelegation in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, addressed, among other issues, the investments that the CSD has made in sports facilities in different Canarian municipalities, such as the Ciudad Deportiva de Antigua (Fuerteventura), with a funding of 3 million euros in the year 2022, or the sports center of Playa de Arinaga, in the municipality of Agüimes (Gran Canaria), with 750,000 euros.
In the past year, other municipalities have also received CSD grants to digitize facilities under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, such as La Aldea de San Nicolás, in Gran Canaria, or Santiago del Teide and La Matanza, in Tenerife. The Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria has been another beneficiary of the NextGenerationEU funds.
Likewise, Rodríguez Uribes has informed the Government delegate in the Canary Islands about the concession of 1.2 million euros to the Royal Spanish Automobile Federation for the organization of the Rally Islas Canarias 2025, and has valued indigenous sports such as the Canarian fight or Latin sailing, suggesting the possibility of performing some direct action with these sports federations.
