Rodríguez Uribes: “ Opts for a social model of sport ”

Brussels, 26 november 2024.- The president of the council for sports (CSD) and secretary of State for sport,José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, assisted in brussels this tuesday meetingThe council of ministers of sports of the European Union.

In that context, it adopted a document of conclusions on the promotion of lasting legacy of mega sport events. It urges member states to take advantage of the major sporting events as an opportunity to promote sport and physical activity in the entire population, including young people and people in situations of vulnerability.

In addition, this document, the council seeks to place the economic, social and environmental sustainability in the centre of the reflections on the benefits to host major sporting events. Among them, the improvement of infrastructure, job creation and the lasting legacy of sporting events organized by good environmental practices.
