Alegría participates in the tribute to the Márquez brothers: “It is a pride that you represent us with so much passion”
Cervera (Lleida), November 22, 2025. The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, participated this Saturday in the tribute to the brothers Marc and Álex Márquez held at the City Council of Cervera, an event that has brought together hundreds of neighbors and fans of motorcycling.
There, Alegría wanted to acknowledge the great season of the two brothers, who have been champion and runner-up in the premier category of world motorcycling.
The minister stressed that Marc Márquez “is the best Spanish driver in history and one of our best athletes, at the level of Rafa Nadal, Pau Gasol or Aitana Bonmatí”. He has stressed his ability to overcome, remembering “all those years of injuries and tastes” and valuing his return to the top: “What a way to get back on the podium: 14 sprint wins and 11 in long runs, 8 poles and the BMW M Award.”
He also wanted to highlight the role of his environment: “How important it is to surround yourself well, to know how to listen to those who love and care for you. The key to individual success is always teamwork”
Regarding Álex, the minister said that he was the only one who stood up to Marc. “For us you can continue to do it because as spectators it is a joy to see you compete and make each other better.”
He has celebrated his sub-championship and his consolidation as a pilot of international reference, ensuring that both “you are part of the sports elite of this country and it is a pride for everyone that you represent us with so much passion and so many successes”
During the event, the brothers received institutional gifts from the mayor and signed in the Book of Honor, to then greet from the main balcony of the City Hall before a square full of neighbors and fans. Later, they participated in a delegation of 200 motorcycles that have toured some streets of the town.
The minister has wished both of them luck for the next MotoGP World Championship and has expressed her intention to accompany Spanish motorcycling next season in one of the Grand Prix contested in Spain: Jerez, Montmeló, Cheste or Alcañiz, in Aragón.
“I am sure that next year we will experience many more hugs like Jerez with the first victory in MotoGP of Álex and Japan with your ninth championship, Marc”
Alegría concluded by once again congratulating the brothers and reminding them: “Enjoy this day a lot and for more successes.”
