Madrid, 7 julio2022.The Board Of Directors of the supreme council for sports (CSD) voted at midday the professionalization of ASOBAL league of the royal spanish federation of handball (RFEBM), through the qualification of all its competitions such as records of the professional and State level.

With this decision of the governing body of the CSD, ASOBAL becomes the first professional league of handball in spain and the fourth state professional league, after the first and second male soccer League, the CPF basketball court and the recent Female Professional League football matches.

The professionalization of ASOBAL from next season occurs after the june 9 all their clubs adopted unanimously at an extraordinary general assembly the new status category, with the blessing of the CSD.

Founded in 1958 with the name of honour division changed nickname in 1990 by the present one, ASOBAL league is currently composed of sixteen teams. “ This is a new milestone for our sport.
