Madrid, November 17, 2025.- The Higher Sports Council (CSD) and the Secretary of State for Equality and for the Eradication of Violence against Women have presented on Monday the campaign "Sport against male violence", a joint initiative that will mobilize the Spanish sports sector on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is commemorated on November 25.

Sports federations, professional leagues, clubs, associations and athletes are called to participate on November 22 and 23 in this campaign, in which Spanish sport will join “to say loud and clear that there is no place for violence against women,” said the president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, during the presentation of this initiative, held at the Movistar Academy Magariños.

The Secretary of State for Equality and for the Eradication of Violence against Women, María Guijarro, recalled that 38 women have been killed so far this year in Spain for male violence, a figure that brings the total since official records exist to 1,333.

“These are figures that are not worth either indifference or neutrality and that require the active involvement of all institutions, all sectors and all citizens,” said María Guijarro.

During her speech, the Secretary of State for Equality and for the Eradication of Violence against Women also stressed that “thousands of girls and boys look to their athletes every day as referents and, therefore, it is important that sports values contribute to the construction of citizenship and human rights for all people.”

The campaign, promoted jointly by the CSD and the Secretary of State for Equality and for the Eradication of Violence against Women, will be developed within the framework of the sports activities that the federations and professional leagues will organize on November 22 and 23, during the day immediately before 25N, through different actions.

These include the display of a banner with the slogan “Sport against male violence” and a commemorative bracelet. In addition, a minute of silence will be kept in memory of all the murdered women.

The campaign will continue in the digital field, with the activation on social networks of the hashtag #Sport25N and the publication of commemorative images.

In this regard, Rodríguez Uribes thanked “the immediate and committed response” of the main sports agents of the country, who on November 22 and 23 will again demonstrate that “sport is a space of equality, respect and coexistence”. “Today we are taking another step so that it is also a space free from male violence,” he said.

For his part, representing the sports sector, the president of Movistar Students, Ignacio Triana, has highlighted the commitment of the club and all sports entities to this campaign, which symbolizes a great alliance to make visible, sensitize and contribute to the eradication of violence against women.

“The Movistar Students has had a women’s team for 37 years. We know that equality between women and men is one of the ways to eradicate violence against women,” said Ignacio Triana.
