The CSD hosts the meeting of the jury of the new Princess of Girona Award for the Values of Young Athletes
Madrid, October 30, 2025.- The Superior Sports Council today hosted the meeting of the Committee of Honor and Values, a high-level jury charged with deliberating and failing the finalists of the Princess of Girona Award for the Values of Young Athletes.
At the end of the meeting, the prize has been announced in the category Entity for the Autism Association of Melilla, recognized for “being a non-profit entity that works to improve the quality of life of people with ASD and that promotes sport as an element of social inclusion, with programs adapted to all stages of life”.
Extremadura swimmer Guillermo Gracia; Basque rhythmic gymnast Eneko Lambea, and Canary golfer Javier de Bethencourt are the three young finalists in the men’s category. In the women’s category, the jury recognized the values of the Aragonese rhythmic gymnast Inés Bergua; the Galician skater Julia Benedetti, and the Vallisolean climber Iziar Martínez.
With this award, the Princess of Girona Foundation seeks to give visibility to young athletes and entities that stand out for their exemplification, effort, resilience and social commitment, beyond strictly competitive achievements.
For the President of the Superior Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, “it is great news that the Princess of Girona Foundation recognizes, for the first time, the values that our young athletes project. We are talking about boys and girls who are proud of their achievements and their medals and, especially, their values. To reward them is, in short, to recognize the best version of our youth, of those athletes who from early ages become not only authentic references but also the best ambassadors of Spain”.
The Committee of Honor and Values of the Princess of Girona Award for the Values of Young Athletes has been presided over by Mohamed El Amrani, Princess of Girona Social Award (2014), entrepreneur and social activist. In addition, the jury included Teresa Perales, Valentín Massana, Ona Carbonell, Ángel Martínez, Emilio Sánchez Vicario, Salva Arco, Roberto Heras, Paula Leitón, Joan Vehils, Santi Nolla and Laura Martínez, sports director of Cadena SER.
The finalists for this first edition of the Princess of Girona Award for the Values of Young Athletes have been selected from among the fifty candidacies of twenty different sports disciplines, received from the seventeen Spanish autonomous communities. In the process of submitting applications, the Foundation has gone hand in hand with the Confederation of Sports Federations of Spain (CUFADE).
The awards will be presented on December 10 in Girona, where the podium of Gold, Silver and Bronze in the individual categories will be known.
