“Every minor athlete deserves to practice sport in a safe environment, free from any form of abuse, harassment or violence, and our responsibility is to ensure that sport is a space of respect, inclusion and personal development,” said the president of the Higher Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.
Madrid, October 22, 2025.- The Superior Sports Council (CSD) has gathered on Wednesday the delegates of protection of the federations to continue advancing in the field of child protection and well-being of the athlete, and consolidate a common strategy that guarantees safe, inclusive and free environments of any type of violence for all athletes.
The meeting, attended by around half a hundred representatives of the sports federations, highlighted the work carried out in recent years on the protection of the athlete and prevention of violence and pointed out the need to continue deepening the matter through “a comprehensive, coordinated and nationwide approach”, as affirmed by Aauri Bokesa, delegate of protection and advisor in the Presidential Cabinet of the CSD.
To this end, the CSD is going to promote in the coming months a series of formations aimed at the delegates of protection of the federations about the implications of the Law of Sport and the Organic Law of Integral Protection of Children and Adolescents against Violence (LOPIVI), the protocols of action, areas of competence and mechanisms of collaboration.
In addition, the federations have shared their concerns and also examples of good practices that they carry out. They have also welcomed the initiative and expressed their willingness to collaborate to promote prevention and ensure the safety of sports environments.
Sports practice in safe environments is one of the priorities of the action of the CSD and the Government, as highlighted during the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2023.
As the president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, has stressed, “every minor athlete deserves to practice sport in a safe environment, free from any form of abuse, harassment or violence, and our responsibility is to ensure that sport is a space of respect, inclusion and personal development, where effort and human values are above all”. “That’s why working in partnership with the federations is essential,” he said.
