Madrid, September 23, 2025.- From September 23 to 30, the tenth edition of European Sports Week is held simultaneously throughout Europe, an initiative of the European Commission that aims to combat sedentarism and promote physical activity.
According to data from the European Commission, since 2015, more than 100 million participants have participated in the 350,000 activities carried out in more than forty countries. In Spain, the objective of this edition will be to exceed last year’s record figures, which recorded more than 1,200 activities and 600,000 total participants.
For this, the Autonomous Communities, municipalities, educational and work centers, as well as sports entities, media and influencers are called to join under the coordination of the Superior Sports Council (CSD) to this initiative that, through a multitude of actions and activities, brings sport and healthy lifestyle to people of all ages in different parts of the Spanish territory.
For the president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, the European Sports Week represents “a joint celebration, in which sport demonstrates its ability not only to achieve a healthier population, but to unite citizens, governments and entities from all over Europe in common goals and values.”
“It is remarkable that an inclusive, intergenerational initiative that represents the best values of sport reaches its tenth anniversary stronger than ever,” says Rodríguez Uribes.
The Secretary of State for Sport also recalls the need to “continue to promote among all of us the physical, mental and emotional health of our citizens through sports activity.”
During the afternoon and evening of September 27, Segovia will become the headquarters in Spain with the organization in the Plaza del Azoguejo, next to the Aqueduct, of a program of activities, exhibitions and information stands, in addition to the ‘BeActive Night’.
