Madrid, July 8, 2025.- The Council of Ministers approved at its meeting on Tuesday the Royal Decree-Law that recognizes as events of exceptional public interest some key programs for the development of Spanish sport, such as Women's Universe, Inclusive Sport, the 2030 Plan to Support Basic Sport and prepare Spanish athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Los Angeles 2028.

These events of exceptional public interest have become in recent years a valuable instrument to guarantee private financing in sports events and competitions, by facilitating access to tax incentives for entities that collaborate with their development.

In the case of Women’s Universe, Inclusive Sport and the 2030 Support Plan for Grassroots Sport, managed directly by the Higher Sports Council (CSD), the recognition will extend between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2027. These three programmes promote, respectively, gender equality in sport, the full integration of persons with disabilities and the practice of sport among the youngest.

For its part, the programme of preparation of Spanish sportsmen and women for the Los Angeles 2028 Games will consolidate the institutional support for the Olympic and Paralympic Committees during this cycle, in which the ADO and ADOP programmes will once again play a fundamental role as instruments of financing scholarships to sportsmen and women.

“With the approval of this Royal Decree-Law, the Government of Spain renews its firm commitment to a sports model that promotes equality, inclusion and excellence, while maintaining the successful formula of public-private collaboration for the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Los Angeles 2028. The support of the private sector is key in the development of sport in our country”, said the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría.
