Madrid, 18 March 2025.- On Tuesday, the Council of Ministers authorised the Higher Council of Sports (CSD) to process the regular subsidy for the Spanish sports federations, amounting to EUR 60 million in 2025.
This measure reaffirms the commitment of the Government of Spain to the strengthening of federated sport and its organisational structure, since this financial support is an essential pillar for the functioning of national sports federations. However, the regular grant ensures the sustainability of technical, administrative and operational equipment and the continuity of sports programmes.
Through this investment of EUR 60 million, the CSD will promote in 2025 the preparation and performance of Spanish athletes and national teams, facilitating their participation in world-class international competitions. In addition, it will promote the holding of national competitions and the training of sports technicians, judges and arbitrators, which will contribute to the professionalisation of this sector.
To access these grants, the federations must submit a strategic plan for the 2025-2028 cycle and the sports project for each specialty and age category for the 2024-2025 season.
These aids are designed to improve sports performance in the next cycle, with the priority objective of the Milan Winter Games – Cortina d’Ampezzo 2026 and the Los Angeles Summer Games 2028. They will also contribute to the preparation of the athletes of our country for the World and European Championships that are disputed in this period, financing activities, concentrations and attendance to competitions.
As a novelty, the amount of the ordinary grant increases by EUR 3 million compared to 2024 by including in the same call the production of audiovisual content that allows the promotion and visibility of the federative activity.
In 2025, the CSD is expected to supplement this regular grant with other aid lines, which will raise the level of financial support of the Spanish Government to over EUR 100 million.
