Irene Lozano: “ The government of Spain has placed sport at the forefront of the process of return to the new normal ”

It has secured during the first conference of ministers and high-level authorities of sport in latin america on “ sport in times of COVID-19 ”

Madrid, 22 may 2020.-The secretary of State for sport and president of the CSD, Irene Lozano, has participated today in the conference of ministers and ministers and high-level authorities of sport in latin america on ‘ Sport in times of COVID-19 ’, convened by the latin american council of sport (CID), together with UNESCO and the Ibero-American Secretariat (SEGIB SHOULD). The aim was to exchange strategies and policies to mitigate the impact of the pandemic health lives around the world.

During his speech, Irene Lozano has explained how the government of Spain has placed sport “ at the forefront of the process of return to the new normal ” way to the training of professional sportsmen and women as one of the first steps of relief after confinement; and to give a key role “ to one of our locomotives, football ” “ to the generosity and the willingness of actors in this particular area for future round of the professional leagues competitions, concrete through the so-called ‘ Covenants de Viana ’.

Lozano has also explained the launching of a collaborative workspace so-called ‘ working group on promoting the Sport ’ (IDWG), the ministry of culture and sport through the CSD, which has served as a meeting point to agree on joint decisions with the sports sector as a whole. The work of the IDWG were key, for example, to design and implementation of a health protocol back to the grid is today the sector supports a return to practice responsible; and also to implement other decisions as the reopening of the High performance centres (CAR); facilities for individual sport practice; and even indoor facilities in some points of España.

In addition, the president of the council has emphasized the importance that sport is having on the process of de-escalation between the public. The president of the council has completed its involvement with the commitment of cooperation of Spain with the CID, agency that hold the Executive Secretary, and in which it intends to “ to participate actively and to promote actions that will enable us to move together in the promotion of sport as a tool of equality, development and inclusion, as we have been doing ”.

In the conference, which has been followed through the hashtag # DeporteYCovid have participated in addition, international organizations, such as PAHO, un Women, the council of europe and GIZ, and institutions and sports activities like LaLiga WADA, among others.
