José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes congratulates Los Leones on the Rugby World Cup ranking

The national coach, Pablo Bouza, and the team captain, Álvaro García, were the hosts of the meeting

Madrid, 12 February 2025.- The President of the Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, visited the Spanish men’s XV rugby team on Wednesday after obtaining the world ranking.

The National Stadium of the Universidad Complutense has been the scene of the meeting between the Secretary of State for Sport and the members of the Spanish team.

Rodríguez Uribes has greeted the players and congratulated them on the successes achieved, while endorsing the support and commitment of the CSD for the development of rugby in our country.

The national coach, Pablo Bouza, and the captain of the team, Álvaro García, were the hosts of the meeting, in which they also gave Rodríguez Uribes a commemorative t-shirt of the world classification.

The Lions secured their ticket for the World Cup after overtaking the Netherlands for 53-24 as premises and defeating Switzerland for 13-43 at home.

This Sunday, at the National Stadium of the Complutense University, Los Leones will close the group stage of the European Championship to Georgia, seven times the champion of the continental tournament, so that they will be able to celebrate with the Spanish hobby in a historic rugby temple the expected return to the globalist stage.
