Pilar Alegría visits the High Performance Center of Sant Cugat
Madrid, July 11, 2024. The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, visited this Thursday the High Performance Center (CAR) of Sant Cugat (Barcelona) where she traveled the facilities accompanied by its director, Ramon Terrassa i Cusí, and by the general director of Sports, Fernando Molinero.
Alegría has been able to chat with some of the sportspeople who are preparing to participate in the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 and observe their workouts.
The minister has also visited some of the improvement works of the center to renew its facilities, which are being possible thanks to the grant of 7.5 million euros from the European funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The CAR of Sant Cugat is a space of 17,000 square meters that has, among others, two athletic tracks (one indoor and one outdoor); an outdoor Olympic pool with ten streets and several indoor pools; rooms for halterofilia, taekwondo, fight, artistic gymnastics, olympic shooting, fencing, table tennis, boxing, muscle and rhythmic gymnastics; sports pavilions for basketball, handball, volleyball, football room and hockey skates; facilities for climbing; indoor tennis courts and outdoor courts; and a natural football field.
In addition, this High Performance Center has a residence with capacity for 273 places and an Institute of Secondary Education where classes of Secondary, Baccalaureate and training cycles of Middle Degree in Driving sports physical activities in the natural environment are taught; Middle Degree in Mountain Sports and climbing, football and futsal; and Higher Degree in Animation of physical and sports activities.
