EUROPEAN SPORTS WEEK 2024:
In the tenth edition of the European Sports Week (SED), held as every year from 23 to 30 September, we have registered 1032 activities, far exceeding the record reached in 2019, which was 798.
This has been achieved thanks to the close collaboration with our partners, the Olympic athletes who participated in our promotional video of the SED-2024 and having established special synergies with the organizers of the European School Sports Day and those of the European Mobility Week
Vigo hosted the main event of the SED-2024 with a long day of activities that began at 17:00 and culminated with a #BEACTIVE NIGHT at 23:00.All the Autonomous Communities plus the two autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla participated with activities, which is a milestone of participation that we hope will be maintained in future editions.
EUROPEAN SPORTS WEEK 2023:
Within the framework of the activities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia hosted on September 23 the main events of the European Sports Week of 2023. In this context, the meeting of the European Union Directors-General of Sports and the Conference on Safe Environments in Sport were also held.
EUROPEAN SPORTS WEEK 2022:
Finally, after years of restrictions caused by the pandemic, in 2022 we have been able to organise a European Sports Week without restrictions in terms of special preventive hygiene measures for infections.
In this eighth edition, held as every year from 23 to 30 September, we have registered 773 activities, just 25 of the record reached in 2019, which was 798. We have been supported by entities such as the COE, the COE, the Sanitas Foundation or the ONCE along with other usual partners such as the Active Spain Foundation, the Young Sport Foundation or the Ploggin Tour circuit. All of them have promoted activities within this week promoting healthy living through physical activity, sport and healthy eating habits.
Melilla hosted the main event of the SED-2022 with a long day of activities that culminated with a #BEACTIVE NIGHT. To this event were added other municipalities of Andalusia and the Region of Murcia that received the support of the CSD in the form of dissemination material and monitors for the development of their master classes with a significant influx of public. In total, 9 #BEACTIVE EVENTS were organized with the direct support of the CSD. 13 of the 17 Autonomous Communities that make up our country participated. This means a reduction in participation for autonomies that we will face for the next edition.
EUROPEAN SPORTS WEEK 2021:
In this seventh edition of the European Sports Week it was decided not to promote numerous mass events, as was our custom in pre-pandemic times, due to the validity of the risk of contagion in Spain despite the massive vaccination that has been carried out in our country. Even so, we have been able to record a significant number of activities (191) that have been uploaded from all over the national geography to our platform.
We wanted to remain cautious and therefore we have organized a single great event, the BEACTIVE NIGHT of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which was a great success in attendance, in which visitors were able to practice very different sports modalities in a festive atmosphere. This video illustrates what has been done with the invaluable collaboration of the City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
We have also challenged the Municipalities of Spain to send us a video of around 1’30” that reflected the sports offer of their town or city classified in four different categories depending on their population and we have received 63 high-quality proposals of which we leave a sample below. We hope that these images will motivate us to stay active by taking advantage of the resources that the municipalities put at our disposal.

EUROPEAN SPORTS WEEK 2020:
The appearance of COVID-19 meant the restriction of sports activity in Spain, especially at the end of September, after the summer, in which the number of infections and deaths was increasing daily. This meant the cancellation of all the participatory events that could have been planned, including the one we wanted to have held in Gijón, which had to be transformed in a matter of days into a closed-door filming of the master class that we had planned to have done in a central area and close to the beach of San Lorenzo.
Instead we proposed the participation in a photo and video course to which some high-quality works were presented but, as happened with the other face-to-face events, the awards ceremony also had to be suspended, the trophies being sent to their respective recipients by post.
We have our hopes in mass vaccination that will allow us to celebrate the SED again as usual, with great participation from the whole sports sector.
EUROPEAN SPORTS WEEK 2019:
The fifth edition of the European Sports Week was held from 23 to 30 September 2019. In our country it was inaugurated on September 21 at the High Performance Center of Madrid with an Open Day in which more than a thousand people participated. From September 23 to 27, promotional events were held with sports activities in municipalities, schools, universities, hostiptales, sports clubs, work centers, museums, etc. The Week closed with the celebration of twelve #BEACTIVE NIGHTS in different Spaniards highlighting the one in Ciudad Real the night of September 28th to 29th.It should be noted that this edition has registered more than double the activities uploaded to the platform of the European Sports Week of those that were uploaded in the previous edition, showing the growing commitment of sports entities with this initiative. In this video you can find out what the BeActive Night in Ciudad Real was like.
We doubled the number of activities carried out from 23 to 30 September uploaded to the platform compared to the previous year: from the 336 activities registered in 2018, we went to a total of 682 activities in 2019.According to data from the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), Spain has been the country with the greatest impact on social networks of the 42 participating countries with 23%, followed by the United Kingdom with 17.4%.
12 #BEACTIVE events were organized with the direct support of the CSD throughout the Spanish territory.More than 340,000 participants were counted.16 of the 17 Autonomous Communities that make up our country participated.
