Rodríguez Uribes accompanies the Spanish team at the World University Winter Games

Turin, 19 January 2025.- José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, president of the Superior Council of Sports (CSD), is in Italy to accompany the Spanish delegation during his participation in the World University Winter Games.
Organized by the International Federation of University Sport (FISU), this competition brings together between 13 and 23 January in the region of Piedmont over 2,000 athletes from all over the world who combine high-level sport with their university studies.
The Spanish team consists of 31 athletes (17 men and 14 women) and 21 officers and technicians from the Royal Spanish Federation of Winter Sports (RFEDI), the Royal Spanish Federation of Ice Sports (RFEDH) and the Spanish Federation of Mountain and Climbing Sports (FEDME).
With twelve medals - four jewels, six plates and two bronzes - Team Spain currently occupies fifth place in Turin.

The CSD president, along with the Director General of Sports, Fernando Molinero, attended the artistic skating tests played this Saturday. In this discipline stands out the gold in dance achieved by Sofia Val and Asaf Kazimov, who are trained by the Olympic Sara Hurtado.
The agenda of José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes also included alpine skiing tests this Sunday. Aleix Aubert, 19, has proclaimed himself a champion in giant Stallion. He has mastered the two sleeves, confirming in these World University Games as one of the young realities of Spanish alpine skiing.
The Secretary of State for Sport will meet this Monday with FISU President Leonz Eder, and will accompany the Spanish team in the biathlon tests.
CSD support for university sport
The Higher Sports Council (CSD) is planning to earmark EUR 1,680,000 in 2025 for the promotion of university sport.
Through different grants, the CSD will contribute to the organization of thirty Spanish University Championships (EUR 550,000), the participation, transfer and equipping of Spanish teams competing in the World University Winter and Summer Games (EUR 450,000) and other international activities (EUR 100,000). In addition, the CSD annually calls for a grant to public and private universities to cover the costs of carrying out works in sports facilities and for the renewal of sports equipment for the organisation of international competitions. In 2025 the contribution will be EUR 580,000.
Favoring the dual career guarantees not only the integral development of athletes, but also helps to retain sports talent, create a base for the high level, promote sports culture and strengthen the international projection of Spain.
