Rodríguez Uribes congratulates the rhythmic gymnastics team for their three gold medals in the European Championship

The team’s next big goal is the World Championship, which will be held in August in Brazil

Madrid, June 16, 2025.- The president of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, visited this Monday the Spanish set of rhythmic gymnastics, coinciding with his return to training at the High Performance Center of Madrid after his historic participation in the European Championship.

Rodríguez Uribes wanted to personally congratulate Inés Bergua, Andrea Corral, Marina Cortelles, Andrea Fernández, Lucía Muñoz and Salma Solaun for the three gold medals achieved in Tallinn (Estonia).

Under the direction of coach Alejandra Quereda and coach Ana Maria Pelaz, the rhythmic gymnastics ensemble completed a memorable performance.

The national team won the full contest and dominated the finals of five tapes and the mixed exercise – three balls and two rings.

“These medals are a boost to continue growing and the reward for all the work done, all the effort and all the love we put every day in this training room,” said coach Alejandra Quereda, a silver medallist at the Rio 2016 Games during her time as an athlete.

As they explained during the meeting with the president of the CSD, the members of the rhythmic gymnastics team felt that they were “well prepared” for the European Championship, although the nerves appeared during the previous days because for some gymnasts this was their first great competition at international level.

“They have taught us that, by trusting and believing in work, everything can be achieved. We are going to go all out in everything that comes in this Olympic cycle,” said Alejandra Quereda.

The next big goal is the World Championship, which will be held in August in Brazil.

“Today we have returned to training, after a few days of disconnection, wanting to continue improving. We gave everything in the European and in Rio de Janeiro it will be no less,” said the captain of the team, Inés Bergua.

For his part, the president of the Royal Spanish Gymnastics Federation, Jesús Carballo, thanked the institutional support and this recognition to the set of rhythmic gymnastics by the CSD.

In this sense, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes has positively valued the trajectory of the national team and has encouraged the athletes and the technical team to continue training with this level of commitment, motivation and confidence.
