Rodríguez Uribes opens the XIII Congress of the Spanish Association of Sports Sciences of Elche

Professionals from the sector have gathered at the Miguel Hernández University to create synergies and promote research in the field of sport

 

Elche, October 1, 2025.- The president of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, inaugurated this Wednesday at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche the XIII Congress of the Spanish Association of Sports Sciences (AECD), which will bring together until October 3 researchers, academics and professionals of recognized national and international prestige in this field.

The president of the AECD, Tomas García Calvo, and the president of the Organizing Committee and vice-president of the AECD, Manuel Moya, accompanied Rodríguez Uribes at the inaugural table, in which the president of the CSD wanted to highlight the importance of this congress as a meeting and dissemination space, fundamental to promote the advancement of the Sports Sciences.

The CSD supports and encourages scientific research through an annual call for grants, which in 2025 has amounted to 260,000 euros and which allows to help public and private universities to “face increasingly ambitious challenges, to position Spain at the forefront of knowledge and to promote interaction with the business and sports fabric,” said Rodríguez Uribes.

“The work of the Subdirectorate General of Sports Sciences of the CSD reflects the institutional commitment to turn our country into a focus for promoting thought, acting as an engine of economic progress and space for permanent exchange, at the same time as promoting teaching and research excellence,” explained the Secretary of State for Sport.

The congress, organized by the AECD and the UMH, celebrates its second edition in Elche, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the introduction of the degree of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the Miguel Hernández University.

The program of the three days combines plenary conferences and symposiums, which will address topics such as injury prevention, healthy aging or the application of the new Sports Law, among others.
