Rodríguez Uribes visits the CAR of Sant Cugat and knows the project of the new Camp Nou

As part of its institutional agenda to Barcelona

Barcelona, 23 January 2024.- The President of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, completed his two-day institutional agenda in Barcelona on Tuesday with a meeting with the President of FC Barcelona, Joan Lapori, and a meeting with athletes in the CAR of Sant Cugat.

His first visit to the county city as president of the CSD has allowed José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes to hold different meetings with representatives of the sport of Catalonia.

José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes deepened this Monday with the government delegate in Catalonia, Carlos Prieto, in the organizational details of the Copa America de Vela, which will be held this year in Barcelona.

This prestigious sporting event has the impetus of the Government of Spain, which has earmarked for its organization a grant of 18 million euros to the Barcelona Nautical Capital Foundation.

José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes also attended the 76th edition of the Gran Gala de Mundo Deportivo. The sports newspaper Dean in Spain awarded the best athletes of 2023 at an event held at the Congress Palace of Catalonia.

Also this Tuesday José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes was able to get to know the sports and social projects of FC Barcelona in a meeting with the president of the entity, Joan Laport, at the Camp Nou.

In addition, the president of the CSD has coincided with young footballers from the different academies that FC Barcelona has around the world.

 

 

From there, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes addressed the CAR of Sant Cugat to follow closely the preparation of the Spanish athletes at the beginning of a key year, for the dispute of the Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024.

During the visit, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes was accompanied by the General Secretary of Sport and Physical Activity of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Anna Caula, and by the director of the CAR of Sant Cugat, Ramon Terrassa.

The president of the CSD congratulated the men’s and women’s water polo teams for their medals in the European and the athlete Jordan Diaz for the achievement of one of the National Sports Awards.

For her part, the swimmer Mireia Belmonte has shared with José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes her enthusiasm for this Olympic year.

The CAR of Sant Cugat, a complex owned by the Generalitat of Catalonia, has received a grant of 3.5 million euros from the Higher Sports Council in 2023.

In addition, by agreement of the Sectoral Conference, the CAR of Sant Cugat has been allocated 8 million euros from the European Funds for the digitization and improvement of the facilities.
