Milagros Tolón and José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes visit with Alejandro Blanco the Spanish athletes in the Olympic Village

They were joined by former basketball player Pau Gasol, a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission.

Milan, February 7, 2026.- The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, and the President of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, visited this Saturday together with the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, the Spanish athletes in the Olympic Village of Milan.

After attending the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games of Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo in the San Siro stadium on Friday, this Saturday morning Minister Milagros Tolón held a meeting with national athletes and technicians in the Olympic Village.

Together with the president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, and the president of the COE, Alejandro Blanco, they remembered with the champion of the Spanish delegation, Olivia Smart, the best moments of the inaugural ceremony and wished him luck in his competition with Tim Dieck.

The minister also shared a few minutes with the other dance couple, formed by Sofia Val and Asaf Kazimov, as well as with speed skaters Nil Llop and Daniel Milagros. Former basketball player Pau Gasol, member of the International Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Commission, has joined the visit.

Spain has classified twenty athletes for these Winter Olympics, equalling the record of participation of the Sochi Games of 2014.
