The Deputy Director-General of Women and Sport of the CSD, Bárbara Butragueño, outlined the public policies on equality for which they bet from the government institution, highlighting since 2018 the investment of 12.6 million euros for the development of the Women and Sport programs.
“This figure reflects our real and sustained commitment to equality in sport,” he said. “From the Higher Sports Council we work every day so that women have the same opportunities as men in all areas of sports activity, from the base to the elite. The Women’s Universe Tour is a clear example of this commitment: a space to make visible, support and celebrate female talent in sport, and also to inspire the new generations”, he said.
The dynamic, fresh and modern format chosen for this presentation was conducted by the sportspeople and presenters of the podcast ‘Between the sword and the skate’, the ex-Olympic skater Sara Hurtado and by the Olympic shooter Lucía Martin-Português.
For her part, Noelia Florín, from the Iberdrola Sports Sponsorship team, confirmed that “over these 10 years we have seen an 80% increase in women’s sports licenses, reflecting the growing interest and participation of women in the sports field.” "This achievement encourages us to continue with the same energy and dedication, aware that sport is a powerful tool to transform society and move towards real equality," he said.

Guadalajara will be the first city of this season and its mayor, Ana Guarinos, said: “Our city is sport and has enormous potential in women’s sport, with great champions and medallists, but also with women’s teams in the quarry of almost all clubs and disciplines. Women can be what they intend to be in all areas and sportswomen deserve the same recognition and respect as their male counterparts for their achievements and efforts. Promoting women’s sport is a matter of justice and common sense.”
The director of the Women’s Universe Tour, Rubén González, commented that “the Tour has managed to bring sport to the center of the cities, becoming a symbol of equality and visibility. Our desire has not changed and it is to keep bringing sport to the street for a long time.”
