The CSD calls for aid of 27.5 million euros for the modernization of sports facilities with the aim of hosting international competitions

Applications from interested entities can be submitted at the CSD electronic headquarters

This is an item from the European Funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan aimed at improving energy efficiency, inclusion and sustainability of sports venues in our country.

Grants will be distributed among local corporations, autonomous communities, private entities and public and private universities

According to Franco, this aid will allow “Spain to continue to be a benchmark in the organization of international sports events” and “our sports infrastructures will see their quality multiplied through a modernization respectful of the Environment”

Madrid, November 29, 2022. The Higher Sports Council (CSD) has approved a resolution, published today in the BOE, which calls for aid worth 27.5 million euros for the improvement of sports infrastructures and their modernization in terms of energy efficiency, inclusion and sustainability with the aim of turning them into spaces that host first-level sports competitions.

This amount comes from the European Funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and is intended for both public and private entities that will have to base their requests on proposals for works that make their facilities more respectful of the environment, more efficient in their operation, and totally suitable for use by users and athletes with disabilities.

In particular, the distribution of aid will be made among local corporations, to which will correspond 19,264,000 euros; autonomous communities, 2,628,000 euros; private entities, 5,028,000 euros; and universities, both public and private, 500,000 euros and 100,000 euros, respectively, for sports works and equipment on the occasion of the organization of international championships.

The Secretary of State for Sport, Jos Manuel Franco, said that these grants will help “Espaa continue to be a reference in the organization of international sports events.” “We are an example of good work and we want to continue doing it in the next few years,” he added. In addition, “our sports infrastructures will see their quality multiplied through an environmentally friendly modernization, located among the most advanced in Europe”, he added.

All actions taken must respect the so-called “Do Not Significant Harm” (DNSH) principle. This action encourages the implementation of projects that promote energy efficiency and the digital transition, and contributes to green and digital labelling, as reflected in the “Sports Sector Development Plan” presented by Espaa to the European Union within the PRTR.

In addition, it will have to justify that the deadline for execution of the works is between 1 February 2020 and 30 September 2023.

Applications from interested entities may be submitted at the CSD electronic headquarters. The deadline will remain open until 16 January 2023.

Constant impulse to Espaol sport

This last call for aid adds to the hysterical investments that the Higher Sports Council and the Government of Spain are carrying out in the last few months to achieve the modernization and promotion of the sport that our country needs.

A few weeks ago another aid of 5 million was approved for team sports clubs competing in the next national category, which participated in competitions of the highest level during the 2021/2022 season and which are integrated in the Spanish Sports Federations (FFDDEE).

In the same vein, 16 million euros have been allocated to the new olympic and paralympic preparation plans, the so-called Team Espaa programs, as well as 6.5 million euros to the implementation of the Professional League of Women's Football (League F).

In addition, the budget item included in the draft General State Budgets for 2023 reaches the figure of 375 million euros, to which must be added the amount of 300 million from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan for the sports sector.
