The CSD calls for aid to universities for sports works and equipment on the occasion of the celebration of international championships

• The total amount of this call is 480,000 euros.

• Public and private universities may benefit from paying for the construction and improvement of facilities on the occasion of international competitions.

Madrid, 19 June 2025.- The Official State Gazette (BOE) publishes on Thursday the resolution of the Presidency of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) calling for grants to universities, worth 480,000 euros, for sports works and equipment on the occasion of the organization of international university championships.

This call will be open to public or private universities that have to undertake works of reform or improvement in sports facilities and renew sports equipment in order to organize World Championships of the International Federation of University Sport (FISU) and European Championships of the European Association of University Sport (EUSA) between the years 2025 and 2027, as well as World University Games and European University Games between the years 2025 and 2031.

Among the eligible expenses are:

• The adaptation and improvement of sports spaces and facilities.
• The adaptation of dressing rooms and other complementary spaces to support sports activity, such as gyms, rehabilitation and nursing rooms, as well as residences and rooms intended for training.
• The adaptation, adaptation and improvements of the facilities whose result implies an improvement in the achievement of the objectives of ecological transition, digitalization, equality and inclusion, accessibility and/or safety in the facilities.
• The renewal of sports equipment of the modalities, specialties, tests and sports activities integrated within the international competition calendar to be organized.

The deadline for making these investments and expenses will be from 1 January 2025 until the start date of the international competition.

Applications must be submitted within 15 days of the publication in the Official State Gazette of the extract from the decision to call for applications. That is, between 20 June and 10 July.

Policy of promotion of university sport

The call published this Thursday in the BOE is part of the policy of promotion of university sport by the CSD.

In 2025, through different grants, the CSD will also contribute to the organization of the University Spanish Championships, the participation, transfer and equipment of the Spanish teams that compete in the World University Winter and Summer Games and other activities at the international level.

In this way, the CSD favors the dual career, guarantees the integral development of athletes and contributes to retain sports talent in order to create a basis for the high level, promote sports culture and strengthen the international projection of Spain.
