The CSD delivery surveys of the week European sports 2019

Madrid, 19 November 2019. The Higher Council of sports has today delivered surveys of the week European sports 2019 for all those people, institutions and administrations most prominent in the promotion of physical activity and values of sport and who have contributed most to involve citizenship.

With these awards, the CSD has been worth the effort and the work of those who have contributed to the development of this initiative, driven by the European commission and that this year celebrated its fifth edition from 23 to 30 September.

The secretary of state for sport and president of CSD, María José Free, has appreciated the work and the effort made by all the winners and all those who have participated in the organization of the edition of this year.

Free has warned about the “ danger of the incidence of obesity and sedentary life ” in our society and emphasised “ the importance of pursuing common objectives, as the objectives of the Agenda 2030, through sport ”.

“ if we motivate society to practice sport, with the momentum of all, with this illusion that ye have put into this week European sports and also throughout the year, we will be closer to achieve a better world ”, has ensured the secretary of state for sport.

In Spain, under the slogan “ Do sport, culture practice ” in 2019 has broken the record of activities and participants. Has doubled the number of sporting events that took place last year. If in 2018 the number of events was 336, this edition has recorded a total of 682, more than double.

Most of these activities took place in the field of education, followed by those held in sports clubs, outdoors in the workplace and many others who were in other areas different from the previous ones.

In all of them have participated more than 330,000 people, regardless of their age, gender or physical condition, you have seen in first person the benefits of sports and physical activity.

European week of sport 2019

European Week of sport is an initiative driven by the European commission and organized by the CSD to promote sports and physical activity. At European level includes over 41 countries, 120 ambassadors and 47 strategic partners.

In this 5th edition, held last September, the ministry of culture and sport and the High Council of sports organized a comprehensive programme of sports activities under the slogan “ Do sport, practiced culture ” with the objective of combining both areas.

To promote events has been counted with the collaboration of great athletes as Pau Gasol, Javier Fernández, Eva Balding, Bruno manger, Amanda Sampedro, Eva Moral and Loida Zabala who participated in a video that appeared touring the most important museums in Madrid.
