The CSD joins World day Down syndrome
Madrid, 20 March 2019. The Higher Council of sports joins World day of the syndrome of Down 2019 in its bid for equality and sport inclusive.
For this reason, the CSD has released a video that tells the story of Guillermo Núñez Grace, a young cacereño 15 years that is an example of overcoming the inclusion and regularly participate in the competitions in which faces athletes who have no disabilities. Furthermore, shares with them the same training programs, so their sport is completely standardized.
In the video are reflected the testimonies of his mother, his coach, their peers, as well as one's own Grace Núñez during its participation in the championships of Spain of Autonomous Selections in School Age (CEASES) in the category of inclusive swimming that took place a few weeks ago in Madrid. These championships, driven by the CSD, bet on sport inclusive and therefore, in addition to the swimming, there are three other disciplines in which young people with and without disabilities participate jointly: badminton, rugby 7, table tennis, field through and triathlon. Furthermore, the CSD is working on the extension of this list of disciplines.
Núñez grace, which belongs to The Swimming Club Perú Cáceres Wellness, swimming practised since the three years and is champion of europe and absolute spain Champions SECTION 15.
“Do not leave anyone behind” slogan 2019
This year the united nations have chosen to commemorate this day the slogan "not leave anyone behind", which seeks to emphasize the importance of all people with Down syndrome must have the opportunity to enjoy full lives on an equal footing with those without disabilities. The international organization said that the idea that “nobody is left behind ” is one of the principles underlying the 17 objectives in the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development.
