The CSD will grant basketball clubs to 8 million in assistance before the end of year
Madrid, 15 july 2021.- The high council of sports (CSD) has been host today, for the first time in its history, an assembly of the association of basketball Clubs (CPF), framework in which president josé Manuel Franco has reported that the aid to the basket will achieve the 8 million euros will be “ in any case, before the end of the year ”.
In particular, this aid will come from the 1% of the media rights generated by football on the basis of the covenants of Viana april 2010 and will be channelled through the CPF from next call for a subvention to which they must cover clubs.
The director-general of sports, Albert Soler, has explained in the context of the general assembly, to the president of the CPF Antonio Martín and entities that make up the league of basketball, that the award criteria to future beneficiaries will be motivated by two criteria: that of the consolidated losses by the lack of public and the cost of which have to incur when practicing clubs screening Covid-19.
Soler also explained that the decision on the amounts will be taken by reference to the last season in which there were public, that is, the 2018- 2019, “ always ahead of the pandemic ”. The subsidies will also be channelled through the cpf.
Basketball aid will be the first state of public character to the field of sport, but will not be the last. “ we said that sport is going to be one of the ten levers that would support economic recovery that public support will be more critical than ever ”, has assured the president of the CSD, josé Manuel Franco. “ we are going to honour our commitment to try to help the sector for the losses it has generated this terrible pandemic that plagues us since march of last year, has remachado ”.
