The Government awarded posthumously the large cross of merit sports Fernández Ochoa White
Madrid, 13 September 2019.- the council of ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of Culture and sport in functions, José Guirao, has adopted the entry, posthumously, in the order of merit Real Sports with the category of Large Cross, Fernández Ochoa White.
With this distinction, the government recognizes that have been distinguished notoriously in practice of sport, in the promotion and teachings of physical education, or who have rendered eminent services in research, dissemination, organization and development of physical culture and sports.
This high decoration joins other also delivered by the government to Blanche Fernández Ochoa, as the gold medal of the order of merit Real Sports granted in 1994 and the two National Awards of sport – Prize Queen Sofía to the best Spanish sportsman – granted in 1983 and 1988.
Born in Madrid on 22 April 1963, white Fernández Ochoa was the first woman in achieving a Spanish Olympic medal in a winter Olympics (Albertville, 1992) and won four evidence of the world cup.
