The Government revives the Ibero-American Network of woman and Sport

Madrid, 20 June 2019.-The Ibero-American Network of woman and Sport (REDIMYD) will have activity after more than eight years without function. This initiative will restart during the VI Seminar “ Sports diary with gender approach ” that is taking place in Indian Cartagena (Colombia) and tomorrow, Friday, shut down the secretary of state for sport, María José Free, US Secretary of Sports and recreation Rich Port, Watch Parés Sánchez; the director of COLDEPORTES, Ernesto Lucena; and the Regional director of WADA, Maria José Pesce.
The REDIMYD was formed in the year 2009 within the framework of the XV General assembly of Iberoamerican Council of sport (CID). Since then, there have been five encounters, being the last more than eight years ago (2011) in Barcelona.
During this stay, during the last meeting of CID that took place last February in Punta del Este (Uruguay), Spain explicitly requested its revival. An initiative that was backed jointly by the rest of member countries in the final declaration of the event.
The celebration of this VI seminar, organised by the High Council of sports in collaboration with the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation to development (AECID) and the Iberoamerican Council of sport (CID), is the framework within which will reactivate the network, thus fulfilling the commitment acquired. Also, there will be a Plan of action that will lay the groundwork for action in the future and to generate an Ibero-American model to boost the role of women in sport. This will be the starting point for the consolidation of the network.

Since Monday, more than twenty Latin American countries gather in the Colombian city of Indian Cartagena in this workshop, which is also serve to establish bases to develop policies and action plans in sport from a gender perspective.
The Seminar is addressing aspects such as the participation of women in different levels of sport, the legislative framework or training with a gender perspective in sports.
In Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, chilli, Cuba, equator, The Savior, Guatemala, Honduras, mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Perú, Portugal, port rich, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela, are some of the countries participating in this international forum.
