The Government will support in sports and athletes to generalise the use of the APP Radar Covid

The extension of this digital tool in sport, as social reference of first level, intends to contribute to the fight against the COVID-19

Madrid, 06 October 2020.-The president of the High Council of sports (CSD), Irene Lozano, has maintained today a meeting with the secretary of state of Digitalization and Artificial intelligence, Carme Artigas, who has served as a starting point to establish a joint working line in the momentum of the digitization of sport and in the fight against the COVID-19.

At the meeting, held in the facilities of the center of the High Performance (CAR) of Madrid of CSD, Irene Lozano is committed to support the dissemination and downloading the software application (APP) Covid Radar in sport for athletes, clubs, leagues, federations, organizers and the rest of actors in the sector collaborate actively in decreasing the incidence of the pandemic.

"we are very satisfied with today's meeting with US Secretary of digitization status and Artificial intelligence because we believe that the chances of collaboration between the sport sector and digitization are enormous. Today we have laid the first stone of many projects that will be crucial for sport, for the digitization of our country and for the fight against Covid-19 ”, has assured the president of CSD.

For the secretary of state of Digitalization and Artificial intelligence, Carme Artigas, “ is fundamental accelerate Radar COVID before the current situation: the APP has proven to be a very effective tool to stem contagion chains, but it depends on achieving the maximum number of downloads. In this sense, athletes can be powerful loudspeakers to reach many, especially the younger. APP for detection of infections

It is an application designed and directed by the state secretary of Digitalization and Artificial intelligence, the ministry of economic affairs and Digital Transformation, whose objective is to help prevent the spread of the COVI-19 between citizenship. It Works as a tool in the detection of infection by close contacts with a resurgence of the pandemic.

Radar warns COVID anonymously possible contact to less than two metres away and for at least 15 minutes, that a person has had with another person infected over the past 14 days.

This APP allows furthermore communicate anonymously both a positive diagnosis, such as those that has been in contact. It is estimated that if 20% of the population download this APP, will reduce the impact of the pandemic by 30%.
