Rodríguez Uribes congratulates Alba Petisco on her historic performance at the European Artistic Gymnastics Awards

With her silver in the ‘all around’ she became the first Spaniard to win a medal in a full competition. In addition, it was bronze on the ground.

Madrid, June 2, 2025.- The President of the Superior Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, received this Monday Alba Petisco, the great star of the Spanish artistic gymnastics team in the European Championship.

Double medallist in Leipzig (Germany), the Catalan made history by becoming the first Spanish gymnast to achieve a continental metal in the ‘all around’.

Second placed with a total of 53,965 points, Alba Petisco was only beaten in the full contest by the Italian Manila Esposito (54,965). The third place went to the Romanian Ana Barbosu, with a score of 52,299.

Alba Petisco rounded out the best individual performance of a Spaniard in a European Championship of artistic gymnastics with a bronze medal in a brilliant ground final.

"I'm still in a cloud"

"I'm still in a cloud. It is difficult to assimilate that I am the first Spanish gymnast to get a medal in the 'all around'. That medal was a shock, but it allowed me to go all the way down. In that final I had to come up with a new element to get a medal and, after the silver in the whole contest, I decided to take a risk. I had nothing to lose. Luckily, it went well. This is a shot of energy for the World Cup," said the 22-year-old Spanish gymnast.

Along with her, at the reception held this Monday at the CSD, there have also been the president of the Royal Spanish Gymnastics Federation, Jesús Carballo, and the coaches of the national women’s artistic gymnastics team Eva Rueda, Claudia Vilá and Almudena San José, who are also an outstanding part of this great success.
