Rodríguez Uribes visit the syndrome of Madrid, prize Infanta Sofia at the national sport 2022
Madrid, 7 february 2024.-The president of the supreme council for sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, has visited this wednesday, the foundation for Down's syndrome of Madrid, distinguished at the national sport 2022 prize Infanta Sofia.
This category recognizes the person, entity or institution that is especially noticeable in the sport of persons with disabilities, inclusive or paralympic sport or encouraged and enabled a sporting activity among persons with any type of disability.
The president of the foundation, Ignacio Egea, and the director-general, Elena Escalona, have hosted José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, which has been accompanied during the visit to the facilities by the ambassador on special mission to the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, Angel Lossada; the president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, Miguel Carballeda; and exfutbolista and coach Vicente del Bosque, who is patron of the fundación Down Madrid.
The syndrome of Madrid has over 30 years to drive the sport in quality between persons with disabilities, as an element of social inclusion, self-fulfilment, and improvement of quality of life. A big project in which they have had more than 7,000 participants with over 300 volunteers and more than 50 corporate partners throughout his career, which provide support, enthusiasm and confidence in all activities that are carried out, always with great professionalism and adaptation.
José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes has never known some of the beneficiaries of the foundation, an entity open to all persons with mental disabilities, from birth through adulthood.
The Down syndrome Foundation in Madrid during the year various events and sports championships, which allow participants to work skills and basic physical and motor skills and promote the values of sport, such as the fellowship, the effort, steadfastness, teamwork and fair play.
