Milagros Tolón and José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes support the Spanish delegation at the Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo
Milan, February 6, 2026.- The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, attended this Friday the inaugural ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games of Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo to transmit, together with the President of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, the support of the Government to the Spanish delegation.
Milagros Tolón and José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes have shared from the San Siro Stadium, the main venue for the inaugural events of this winter Olympic event, the pride of an entire country. With twenty athletes qualified for the Milan Cortina d’Ampezzo Games, Spain has equalled the historic record of participation of Sochi 2014.
“To get here, there are years of preparation, perseverance and teamwork. Enjoy and compete with pride,” said Minister Milagros Tolón.
The holder of the Sports portfolio has also highlighted the role of coaches and technical teams and the joint work of the Superior Sports Council (CSD) with the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) and national sports federations.
The CSD doubles its support to the federations
With regard to the three sports federations with representation at the Winter Olympic Games - the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation, the Royal Spanish Ice Sports Federation and the Spanish Mountain and Climbing Sports Federation - the total allocated in 2025 by the CSD amounted to 10,178,321.14 euros. That is, more than double the contribution in 2018.
The CSD grant to the Royal Spanish Winter Sports Federation has risen from 2,797,452.59 euros in 2018 to 4,634,470.25 in the past year.
In the case of the Royal Spanish Federation of Ice Sports, state aid has increased from 1,449,523.61 to 2,963,313.87 euros.
For its part, the resources destined for the Spanish Federation of Mountain Sports and Climbing have gone from 604,077.16 euros in 2018 to 2,580,537.02 in 2025.
In sum, during the period 2018-2025, these three entities have received more than 56.6 million euros in aid from the Higher Sports Council.
