Rodríguez Uribes: “The Government of Spain is fully committed to the reconstruction of sports facilities affected by DANA”
The president of the CSD has visited the municipality of Picaña, located in the zero area of the tragedy.
Valencia, March 22, 2025.- The President of the Superior Council of Sports (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, visited the municipality of Picaña (Valencia) on Saturday to monitor the progress in the recovery of the sports facilities affected by the DANA.
The Vicent Martí Municipal Sports Pavilion “Galán” and the indoor swimming pool of this locality, located in the zero area of the tragedy, are the sports spaces visited by the Secretary of State for Sport for being included in the reconstruction plan that the Government of Spain has designed to recover all the municipal owned facilities affected by DANA.
With an investment of EUR 135 million, of which EUR 7.4 million will go to Picaña, the Spanish Government will bear the total cost of reconstruction of 55 municipal sports centres.
Accompanied by the government delegate, Pilar Bernabé, and the mayor of the town, Josep Almenar, the Secretary of State for Sport has also explained the details of the call for aid, amounting to 2 million euros, which in addition “the Higher Council of Sports has made available to the private sports entities affected by the DANA”.
“The beneficiaries will be mainly territorial federations and sports clubs, with a maximum for each project of 100,000 euros,” said Rodríguez Uribes.
The president of the CSD stressed that this aid reflects the “commitment of the Government of Spain to the reconstruction of sports spaces”. “This process that is already underway is a positive message for citizens, as sport will enable them to regain their illusion,” he concluded.
José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes will continue his institutional agenda this Sunday with his participation in the solidarity event that Legends España dedicates in Catarroja to the football clubs affected by DANA and with his assistance in Mestalla to the match that will face the selections of Spain and the Netherlands for a position in the Final to Four of the UEFA League of Nations.
