Rodríguez Uribes: “Spanish women’s basketball is in very good health”
The president of the CSD participates in the presentation of the 2025/2026 season of the Endesa Women's League
Madrid, September 16, 2025.- The president of the Superior Sports Council, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, spoke today at the opening of the presentation gala of the 2025/2026 season of the Endesa Women's Basketball League.
In the event, presented by Marta Fernández and Pablo Lolaso, some new features of the season have been presented, such as the new slogan, “Nothing stops us”, the new profile of LF Endesa on Instagram and the online game FantasyFEB.
For Rodríguez Uribes, LF Endesa is “a window for more and more girls to see basketball as the sport they want to practice”.
“We are all aware that basketball is one of the sports with the highest number of women’s licenses, it is presided over by a woman and has a powerful league with a very high level of sports and visibility,” said the president of the CSD, who considers that “Spanish basketball is in very good health.”
Rodríguez Uribes also recalled that “fifteen days ago the Council of Ministers recommitted itself to the professionalization of this competition, with a new grant of one million euros to the FEB for the improvement of the social and working conditions of the players”, and pointed out to LF Endesa as a “good example of the collaboration between the public and the private”.
For her part, the president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB) has recalled that “when you are the best League in Europe, such a potential product is because there is a lot of work behind”, while the Councilor Delgado de Endesa, José Bogas, has praised the “family spirit” of basketball, in which “everyone works in the same direction”.
