The CSD presides in Jaén the plenary session of the Spanish Committee of University Sport

The Council presented the report of national and international activity of the Spanish university sport of 2025 and the strategic lines for the coming years
  • The CEDU, a collegiate body responsible for coordinating the sporting activity of Spanish universities, has held its annual plenary session within the framework of the National University Sports Days 2025, which this year hosts the University of Jaén.

 

Madrid, 26 November 2025.- The Superior Sports Council (CSD) chaired last Thursday at the University of Jaén the plenary session of the Spanish Committee of University Sport (CEDU), a collegiate body responsible for the coordination of Spanish university sport. The meeting was held within the framework of the National Conference on University Sport 2025, which this year hosted the institution of Xinjiang.

During the plenary session of the CEDU - a body attached to the Presidency of the CSD and composed of representatives of the Council, the universities and the Autonomous Communities - the CSD has presented the national and international activity report of 2025.

This year, a total of 31 Spanish University Championships have been held, with more than 7,000 participants (between athletes and officials), 500 more than the previous year. A total of 82 universities have been part of the CEU2025, 15 of them organizers of the competitions.

In addition, some 350 athletes from 23 Spanish universities participated in the competitions organized by the European University Sports Association (EUSA), in which Spain won 26 medals.

For their part, 228 athletes from half a hundred universities competed in the Summer and Winter University World Games and in the World Cups organized by the International Federation of University Sports (FISU), achieving a total of 29 medals for our country.

At the CEDU Plenary held in Jaén, the representatives of the CSD also detailed the strategic lines for the coming years, which involve improving visibility and increasing participation and performance, as well as strengthening collaboration with universities and the Autonomous Communities in the planning and management of university sport.
