The CSD publishes grants for the improvement and optimization of sports facilities for the promotion of sustainable sports tourism

The total amount of this grant line amounts to EUR 36 million

This grant line, which benefits the Public Administrations, has an endowment of 36 million euros, with which the Government of Spain reinforces its commitment to sustainable sports tourism

Madrid, June 30, 2023. The Official State Gazette (BOE) has published today the order establishing the regulatory bases for the granting of grants and aid from the Higher Sports Council (CSD) to public entities owning infrastructures for the improvement and optimization of sports facilities and spaces that promote sustainable sports tourism.

Aimed at projects whose implementation period is between 1 February 2020 and 30 September 2025, these grants are aimed at consolidating structures that promote equality, dissemination, visibility, training, energy efficiency, digital transformation and accessibility.

In order to consolidate the modernisation of our tourist industry associated with sport, all those investments whose purpose is the adaptation, reform, improvement and maintenance of sports infrastructures, especially in the most depopulated areas, will be eligible for this aid.

The beneficiaries of this aid, whose total value amounts to 36 million euros from the European Funds, are the Public Administrations that are holders of sports facilities or spaces in which sustainable sports tourism activities can be developed, understood as those that involve both the travel and/or accommodation of people to witness and/or participate in some event of a sports nature and for the practice of physical sports activity.

Investments aimed at the adaptation and improvement of spaces and facilities, accesses and parking spaces, dressing rooms and gyms, rehabilitation and nursing rooms, residences and rooms dedicated to training will be eligible, with a maximum amount of 600,000 euros for each beneficiary entity. Also those investments aimed at improving energy efficiency, as well as the adaptation, adaptation and improvements of the facilities that are aimed at achieving the objectives of ecological transition, digitalization, equality and inclusion, and accessibility and/or safety in the facilities.

The entities concerned shall submit a single application, containing a maximum of two bankable projects.
