Free: “ sport is decisive in the momentum of environmental protection ”

The president of CSD has opened the day “ Sport acts ” designed to show the commitment of sport with environmental protection

Madrid, 05 December 2019.The secretary of state for sport and president of CSD, María José Free, today opened at the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid the “ Sport acts ”. It is an event framed in the COP25 that aims to show the commitment of sport with the environment, as well as to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between professionals of the sector, associated companies, institutions and civil society.

During the presentation of the event, to be held within the framework of the climate summit involving 196 countries, Free has put in value the importance of sport as “ gateway for action in the protection of the environment. ” “ sport is an international organization that there is more consolidated and a transversal element to convey values and global messages, unite people, causes and motivate society ”, has added.

The president of CSD has ensured that sport helps to eliminate the effects of climate change and that is a factor tested for sustainable development as described in the Agenda 2030 of the ONU. “ Is a tool of social integration and decisive in the momentum of environmental protection. So, we need to take action, and sport acts ”, it said.

In this sense, reminded that the new law of sport collects steps in this direction: promote good practices that promote sustainability through sport, commit to event organizers with effective systems of waste management, ensuring the protection of the natural surroundings, facilities enable increasingly sustainable, as well as ensuring the physical practice sports in sustainable environments.

“ Sport acts ”

The day is composed of several presentations and panel discussion. One of them is the“ green Agenda of the associated companies to sport ”in the presence of representatives of Iberdrola, Telefónica and Ingesport. then, the association of sport English (ADESP) explain the project“ Green Sport Flag ”working with ministries of culture and sport and Ecological Transition and that, among other actions, promotes the launch of a hallmark for sporting events committed with nature.
