Spanish Championships of Regional Teams in School Age open the 2025 calendar with basketball and handball tournaments

The CESA are the main meeting point of the basic sport in Spain.
  • Only these two basketball and handball championships will bring together over the next few days some 3,000 young athletes in Andalusia and Catalonia.

  • The CSD contributes to the organisation of these events, fundamental in the training stage, through a grant of EUR 1,800,000 to the Spanish sports federations.

Madrid, January 3, 2025.- The Spanish Championships of Autonomous Teams (CESA) in school age inaugurate their 2025 calendar with the dispute in Andalusia and Catalonia, respectively, of the basketball and handball training tournaments.

In particular, in ten pavilions distributed by the Unchartered municipalities of Aljaraque, Punta Umbria, Palos de la Frontera, Gibraléon, Cartaya and Huelva the best basketball talents of our country will be gathered between 3 and 7 January. Close to 1,000 young players will be accompanied by the best training coaches and leading regional referees.

Like basketball in the province of Huelva, the great base handball festival repeats in Catalonia. The epicenter of the activities will be located in the Sport City of Blanes, being Lloret de Mar, Calella, Malgrat de Mar, Pineda de Mar and Mataró the other venues of this championship, which until January 8 will bring together 2,000 athletes from 103 teams.

The CESA are the main meeting point of the base sport in Spain, as it is once again accredited at the beginning of the year.

The Higher Council of Sports (CSD) annually allocates €1,800,000 in grants to the Spanish sports federations for the organization of these top-level sports championships at school age, which are fundamental in the training stage.

 

The 2025 calendar

In addition to the basketball and handball championships, in January the Spanish Championship of Autonomous Selections sub-16 and sub-18 and inclusive of cross is scheduled to be held in Getafe (Madrid).

Basketball in chair, swimming, taekwondo and hockey grass appear on the calendar of CESA 2025 in February, while in March it will be the turn of the Alpine skiing and Olympic fighting championships. Winter sports come back in April, in the form of slopestyle and freestyle. Waterpolo, table tennis and judo also hold their championships in April.

The calendar continues in May and June with the competitions of modern Pentathlon, gymnastics, halterophilia, ice hockey, baseball and softball, horse baseball, rugby, badminton, orientation, basketball 3x3, archball shot, beach hand, kickboxing and muay thai, volleyball and boxing.

In July the road cycling and BTT championships, climbing, surfing and triathlon and, already in August, the beach volleyball and Eslalon canoeing will be played.

In October it will be the turn of athletics on the runway, canoeing and golf, with the Olympic and paralympic rowing closing the CESA 2025 on 29 and 30 November.
