Madrid, 27 june 2023.The president of the supreme council for sports (CSD), Víctor Francos, will deliver this thursday, 29 june, the recognition of commendation of ‘ equal in sport ’ Paloma del río, David Guerrero, César Vallejo Ángela Gallardo and the international day of LGBTI Pride. They are the presenters and directors of video podcast ‘I do not want any esconderme ’,an original production studio Play that little detail on the experience of LGBTI people in the world of sport.

The act of delivery, which will take place at 17:00 hours at headquarters of the supreme council for sports, aims at placing value on work and struggle for the rights of LGBTI people, as well as support for the visibility of the community in the field of sport.

This recognition takes place within the framework of the strategy ‘ equal in sport ’, pursued by the CSD and that last year, the international day of LGBTI Pride, awarded to the olympic athlete Marc Tur, which received the gold medal of the royal order of sporting merit.

‘ i do not want any esconderme ’

The video podcast ‘I do not want any esconderme ’it is an original production studio Play which delves into reality LGBTI in sport in Spain and analyses in an open and inclusive manner the current situation. Dove of the river is the next to David Guerrero, journalist LGBTI specializing in gender and in sport; and is headed by César Vallejo and Ángela Gallardo.

This project, which was premiered on 21 june, borrows its title to the footballer Jakub Jankto delivered a few months ago, to make public their homosexuality.

It is composed of three chapters 50 minutes in which, through personal stories, reviews the evolution of sports culture in the fight against homophobia and offers, at the same time, various examples of overcoming poverty.

It involves, inter alia, the athlete Marc Tur, esgrimista Gema Hassen-Bey, karateca Damián Quintero, Javier Raya skater, swimmer Pau Ribes, football stars Patricia Curbelo, Patricia González Mota and Alba Palacios, Eneko Lambea gymnast, water polo player Víctor Gutiérrez, bearer of ice hockey, Nora Gómez bearer and trainer of Quaddball Ro Moran, assistant referee Sara Peláez basketball and rhythmic gymnastics Judith Torralba.

The director of the Female atlético de Madrid, Lola Romero; the responsible de proyectos de la Fundación Cádiz CF, Antonio Caro; the president of the Peña LGBTI Valencian, Amparo Ramada; sports journalist Raúl Granado; and the Panteres Grogues activist of Barcelona, Martina Popolo, are other actors.

On ‘ equal in sport ’

The delivery of this recognition of commendation is part of the strategy “ equal in sport, which the council for sports has been operating since 2002 with the aim to encourage gender equality, combating discrimination of LGBTI collective and promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the field of sport.
