- With these new investments, 84 million euros have already been territorialized among the CC.AA. and the autonomous cities, almost a total of 30% of the recovery funds destined for sport
Madrid, 3 May 2022.- The Council of Ministers, at the request of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, approved at its meeting today the proposal for territorial distribution and the criteria for distribution between the Autonomous Communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla of a new item of 35 million euros during 2022, within the framework of Component 26 "Plan of Promotion of the Sport Sector" of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Of this amount, 26 million euros will be directed to the ecological transition of sports facilities, in order to modernize the infrastructures of the High Performance Sports Centers and the Network of Centers existing in the CC.AA, adapting them to criteria of sustainability and energy optimization. Added to the 49 million euros already distributed during 2021 with this same objective, the 75 million euros of investment in two years are reached, as approved in the last Sectoral Conference of Sport.
On the other hand, the other EUR 9 million of the item approved by the Council of Ministers will be used for the implementation of a Prescription Plan for Activity and Physical Exercise. The goal of this investment is that the CC.AA. develop and implement a plan to promote physical activity and sport for health (AFBS) through digital tools aimed at improving the accessibility and effectiveness of sports and health systems, as well as intensifying the training of the professionals involved. Given its link between sport, health and technology, this investment is part of the Digitalization axis of Component 26.
Once the Council of Ministers has approved the agreement authorising the territorial distribution proposal and the distribution criteria, the next step will be its submission to the next Sectoral Conference on Sport.
The distribution of EUR 84 million has already been approved
With the new investments pertaining to the digitalization of sport and the modernization of sports facilities, a total of 84 million euros have already been territorialized between the Autonomous Communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla so far in 2022.
A figure that represents almost 30% of the 300 million directed to the Plan for the Promotion of the Sports Sector, and which is distributed in three main areas: the Digitalization Plan (75 million), the Ecological Transition Plan (146 million) and the Social Plan of Sport (77 million).
