Introduction

1. INTRODUCTION

The rules on sports facilities and for leisure (NIDE) was developed by the High Council of sports, an autonomous agency under the ministry of Culture and sport. This policy aims to define regulatory conditions, planning and design that must be seen in the project and the construction of sports facilities.

NIDE standards are composed of two types:

  • Regulations (R).
  • Project standards (P).

2. REGULATIONS (R)

The Regulations are intended to normalizing, giving a similar treatment in the different uses or sports, aspects such as the dimensional, route, solar orientation, lighting, type of sports surfaces and non-personal sports equipment, which influence the active practice of sport or specialty concerned. These rules are a basic information for the subsequent use of standards of project.

In the development of these rules have been taken into account regulations existing game of the corresponding Sports Federations, moreover have been considered European standards and Spanish (UNE-EN) existing in this area (sporting equipment, for sports surfaces, lighting of spaces for sports and facilities for spectators)

The Regulations apply in all those projects undertaken wholly or partly funded by the High Council of sports and sports facilities which will hold official competitions governed by the relevant national Sports Federation, however is the responsibility of the Federation the approval of the installation.

3. RULES OF PROJECT (P)

Project Standards have a triple purpose:

  • Serve as a reference for the realization of any project of a sports facility.
  • Facilitate helpful conditions to perform a planning of sporting facilities, for which defines the possible uses, classes of standard facilities, the scope of the use of each, aspects to consider before starting the design of the sport installation and a method for calculating the needs of sports facilities of a given geographical area.
  • Define the conditions of design considered more suitable as to set the standard types of sports facilities, defining the different spaces and dimensions of these spaces, as well as the characteristics funcional-deportivas of different types and their spaces.

Project Standards are implemented in all those projects undertaken wholly or partly funded by the High Council of sports and all those projects of facilities that are built in official competitions governed by the relevant national Sports Federation, however is the responsibility of the federation for the approval of the installation.
